DeKalb County Board of Health’s M.O.R.E program collaborated with the DeKalb County Public Library system at an event to promote early childhood reading. In January of this year, the library system kicked off their “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” initiative to encourage children to read. DeKalb County Public Library visited the East DeKalb Health Center on June 29 and met with parents in the M.O.R.E. program to introduce ways to make reading with their children more interesting and how to engage their children during story time. Participates received 1000 Books Before Kindergarten participation kits, which include a reusable book bag, a starter book, a reading log and reading tips and recommendations.
