Board of Health Honors Volunteers

The DeKalb County Board of Health recently recognized its many volunteers during a program at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center.  DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James was the guest speaker.

“Volunteers make such important contributions toward the Board of Health’s mission by working in our health centers and with our educational activities,” said S. Elizabeth Ford, M.D., M.B.A., district health director.  “They help to improve our services and to extend our reach in the community.”

In addition to recognizing all of the agency’s volunteers, two special awards were given at the event.  The Dr. Gunar N. Bohan Memorial Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service was presented to V’Luck Wiles, who volunteers with the Office of Chronic Disease Prevention.  In addition, the Staff Award for Exemplary Work with Volunteers was awarded to Adrienne Buckmire, office manager of the T.O. Vinson Health Center.
