WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
WHERE: Results Central
2532 South Hairston Rd., Decatur, Ga. 30035
KEY FACTS:
- The Board of Health is partnering with Amerigroup, Live Healthy DeKalb Coalition and Results Central, for Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 15 to 21. The goal of this event is to ensure children ride as safely as possible. Thousands of DeKalb parents and caregivers travel daily with children in their vehicles. While some are properly buckled in the correct car seat, many are not.
- Certified child passenger safety technicians will check infant and booster seats for correct installation.
- The event will also feature a “hot car” to demonstrate the dangers of leaving a child alone in a vehicle. Walking and biking safety tips, as well as giveaways, will be offered.
- According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in the U.S., 46 percent of car seats are misused. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading killer of children, and fatalities are on the rise. Car seats and seat belts can make all the difference.
