DECATUR, Ga. – Effective Tuesday, Sept. 3, DeKalb Public Health’s Tucker WIC Clinic will integrate into the four existing WIC locations located throughout the county.
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutrition education counseling, breastfeeding support and counseling, health and dietary assessments, and supplemental food to eligible clients. The program serves pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children under the age of five who are both income eligible and nutritionally at risk.
The Tucker WIC clinic was a stand-alone clinic with no other services offered making it less convenient for participants seeking other public health services.
“By integrating WIC participants into our four existing locations, we will be able to provide a broader array of public health services for both mothers and children,” said Dr. Sandra J. Valenciano, District Health Director and CEO of DeKalb Public Health. “This will allow us to provide better care and a ‘one stop shop’ for their healthcare needs.”
WIC participants who use the Tucker location have been informed of the change and will now receive services at the following locations:
DeKalb WIC at Clifton Springs Health Center 3110 Clifton Springs Road Decatur, GA 30032 | DeKalb WIC at North DeKalb Health Center 3807 Clairmont Road Chamblee, GA 30341 |
DeKalb WIC at East DeKalb Health Center 2277 S. Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road Lithonia, GA 30083 | DeKalb WIC at T.O. Vinson Health Center 440 Winn Way Decatur, GA 30030 |
