Background:
Indian Creek Elementary is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the DeKalb County School System, with over 80 spoken languages. Many of the children are from countries with no pedestrian safety measures putting them at a greater risk for being struck by a motor vehicle. From January 1, 2008- present, 239 traffic crashes have occurred along a stretch of North Indian Creek Way and North Indian Creek Road. Eleven pedestrian crashes were reported during this same time period.
