DECATUR, Ga. – The public can now request official records for Georgia births and deaths with just a few clicks of a mouse and a smartphone camera.
On Thursday, February 28, the DeKalb County Board of Health will launch its
e-commerce platform with the online processing of vital records requests. Birth and death certificates ordered online will generally be mailed or available for pickup within three business days.
In addition, the Office of Vital Records will now be open until 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays. The office is in the Richardson Health Center at 445 Winn Way in Decatur. It opens at 8:15 a.m. on all weekdays and closes at 4:30 p.m. on Mondays through Wednesdays and Fridays.
“Our commitment is to increasing access to services,” said DeKalb County District Health Director S. Elizabeth Ford, M.D., M.B.A. “Integrating e-commerce with our website and the new extended hours demonstrates this. We are excited by the opportunity to share these improvements with the public.”
