
Child Passenger Safety Program
Our Child Passenger Safety Program is committed to keeping children safe when they’re riding in a vehicle. DeKalb Public Health offers a Child Passenger Safety Class designed to educate caregivers on the proper installation and use of car seats.
Child Passenger Safety Class
Eligible participants are:
- DeKalb County residents.
- Parents and caregivers of an infant or child 8 years old or younger.
What you will learn
Participants will receive hands-on instruction from certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians on:
- Proper installation of infant, convertible, and booster car seats.
- Choosing the right car seat for your child’s age, height, and weight.
- Common installation errors and how to avoid them.
- Georgia’s child passenger safety laws and best practices.
- How to properly harness your child for maximum safety.
Parents and caregivers of children enrolled in Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), WIC or CAPS (Childcare and Parent Services Program) may be eligible for a free car seat. Bring the child, vehicle, a valid picture ID and proof of benefits.
