
Child Passenger Safety Program
Our Child Passenger Safety Program is committed to keeping children safe when they’re riding in a vehicle. Through community outreach and classes, we help parents and caregivers ensure the proper use of car seats and booster seats.
Child Passenger Safety Class
Eligible participants are:
- DeKalb County residents.
- Parents and caregivers of an infant or child 8 years old or younger.
The class includes:
- How to choose the right car seat or booster seat based on the child’s age, height, weight and developmental needs.
- Step-by-step instructions on how to properly install a car seat and booster seat.
- Hands-on practice in installing a seat with guidance from a certified child passenger safety technician.
Bring the child, seat and vehicle to class.
Parents and caregivers of children enrolled in Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), WIC or CAPS (Childcare and Parent Services Program) may be eligible for a free car seat. Bring the child, vehicle, a valid picture ID and proof of benefits.
